The Easter Bombings

On 21 April 2019, Easter Sunday, three churches in Sri Lanka and three luxury hotels in the capital Colombo were targeted in a series of coordinated terrorist suicide bombings. 258 people were killed, including at least 46 foreign nationals and three police officers, and at least 500 were injured. The sequence and coordination of the bombings were planned to cause maximum destruction, targeting Christians during worship services across the island nation, and targeting guests at the height of breakfast in luxurious beachfront hotels.
